Disaster Relief

After doubling in size since September 2001, the Mid-Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross Disaster Services currently has numerous staff and volunteers who are trained and ready to respond to local, national and international disasters.

Emergency Assistance to Families

Single family fires are some of the most frequent and common emergencies for which we provide assistance. When dispatched by emergency personnel or when requested by family members, our staff or volunteers arrive at the scene to help meet the immediate needs of the affected victims. Likewise, we support emergency responders as they handle the incident. Many services such as mental health counselling, physical health assistance, and food are available to help victims recover from disaster.

National Disasters

Our local Red Cross volunteers and staff members often serve on relief operations for major national disasters. This improves their training and skills, and assures that Red Cross workers will be available to our region,  should a major disaster occur in Mid-Missouri.

Disaster Preparedness

The Red Cross works year-round with city, county and state emergency management agencies to facilitate disaster preparedness and planning. Ongoing efforts continue to recruit and train volunteers, and to secure resources for shelter, communications and supplies.
