CPR/AED Awareness Week

June 1 - 7, 2008

In December 2007, Congress declared the first week of June each year as National CPR/AED Awareness Week.  June 1-7, 2008 will mark the first National CPR and AED Awareness Week.  The goal of this week is to encourage individuals, communities and businesses to get trained in CPR and increase public access to Automated External Defibrillators (AED).

Through this outreach, we hope that we can raise the public awareness of sudden cardiac arrest, suffered by more than 300,000 people each year and increase the chance of survival that can be achieved by having at least one person in each household trained in CPR and the use of an AED.

In less time than you think, American Red Cross training can give you the vital knowledge and skills to respond to a life-threatening situation with confidence. Here are a few training options to choose from:

Sign up for any full certification course that offers CPR/AED training during the month of June and receive a FREE GIFT!

Don't have time to attend a full class? Sign up for any of our web-based trainings
scheduled during the month of June and not only will you save time in the classroom but you will also receive a FREE GIFT just for training with us!

Want to learn CPR but not interested in paying for a class? The First Aid and CPR for Everyone kit is an at-home tool for practicing compression-only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). It can be used at home, in the office, in classrooms or anywhere it is convenient to practice skills. The box set features an illustrated guide to demonstrate hand placement on the chest and a compression practice tool to help measure just the right amount of pressure needed to properly administer chest compressions.  Please note: this kit is intended for informational purposes only.  If you need actual certification in CPR, please register for a course.
