Family Caregiving

If you're helping to care for a parent, spouse or friend at home, your life is a balancing act.  You want to provide the best care possible - but if you're like many caregivers, you have many other commitments, including a job and a family.

Luckily, the American Red Cross can help.

We are proud to introduce our Family Caregiving Program. This exciting new program offers you a helping hand by providing a variety of information-packed sessions covering topics that can help you provide the care that your loved one may need, including subjects such as home safety, healthy eating, and bathing, as well as legal and financial issues. There's even a session that helps you take care of yourself.
 
There are nine different topics to explore in this program and a variety of ways to learn them. 

Program Options:

1. Family Caregiving Reference Guide with DVD - Purchase the colorful, easy-to-use Family Caregiving Reference Guide with DVD so you can learn at your own pace and own time.  The DVD provides live examples of the important techniques you need to know when caring for a loved one.		$25.00
2. Family Caregiver Leader Guide - Become a Family Caregiving leader and teach this information to your employees, co-workers, family or friends.  Guide includes all materials you will  need to teach the Family Caregiving program to others.  DVD is sold separately or available for rent.		$36.00

3. Individual Information Booklets - Purchase just one or all nine of the information booklets so you can learn information specific to your unique situation.

		Home Safety - Discusses how to provide a safe environment for yourself and the loved ones in your care.		Caring for the Caregiver - Discusses how to take care of your own health while caring for your loved one

		General  Caregiving Skills - Teaches how to measure your loved one's vital signs such as pulse, respirations and body temperature.		Positioning and Helping Your Loved One Move -  Teaches you how to safely position and help your loved one with limited mobility to move.

		Caring for a Loved One with HIV/AIDS - Teaches family caregivers to care for a loved one with HIV/AIDS, including symptoms that may occur and how to provide emotional support.		Caring for a Loved One with Alzheimer's  Disease or Dementia - Discusses how to care for a person with Alzheimer's disease or dementia as well as how to handle common behaviors associated with the disease.
