| Bloomfield’s Family Restaurant in Marshall Makes Donation to American Red Cross Mid-Missouri Chapter May 19, 2008 -- Marshall business owner Larry Salim of Bloomfield’s Family Restaurant has donated $300 to the Mid-Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Mid-Missouri Chapter serves Saline County and several other counties in the surrounding area. The donation was a result of the restaurant’s “Red Cross Day of Giving” on March 12, in conjunction with National Red Cross Month. Bloomfield’s donated a percentage of the day’s net sales. “I appreciate the hard work of the Red Cross -- around the world and in our local area. I also appreciate all of restaurant customers, who have been so supportive and welcoming of our businesses here in Marshall,” said Salim. “So, this donation was one way I wanted to show my appreciation to both – the Red Cross and the people of this great community.” “I have already told the Red Cross folks that I am ready, willing and able to help them again in whatever way I can,” added Salim. “They are a great organization.” “Larry has welcomed the Red Cross and has been a big fan and supporter of our recent efforts here in the Marshall area, as well as our international efforts,” said Mike Odneal, Executive Director of the Mid-Missouri Chapter. “As we continue to serve the people of Saline County, we know that we can count on Larry for his continued support and assistance.” “The Marshall area is blessed to have many civic-minded businesspeople like Larry,” added Odneal. “It’s that kind of local support – combined with an increase in local Red Cross volunteers like our board member Jack Harvey -- that will enable our chapter to provide even more Red Cross services to the people of Saline County. Bloomfield’s Family Restaurant is located at 1335 W. Vest Drive in Marshall, just west of Highway 65. The American Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, almost a million volunteers and 35,000 employees helped victims of almost 75,000 disasters; taught lifesaving skills to millions; and helped U.S. service members separated from their families stay connected. Almost 4 million people gave blood through the Red Cross, the largest supplier of blood and blood products in the United States. The Red Cross is not a government agency; it relies on donations of time, money, and blood to do its work. |
