Culver’s® of Columbia Gives Back To Local Red Cross Chapter
During “Day of Giving” Fundraiser on March 5

American Red Cross Mid-Missouri Chapter to Benefit from
10 Percent of Sales Donation from Culver’s Restaurant

March 3, 2008 -– In conjunction with National Red Cross Month, Culver’s® of Columbia is donating 10 percent of sales on Wednesday, March 5, to the American Red Cross Mid-Missouri Chapter -- during Culver’s second annual system-wide “Day of Giving” fundraising event.

Culver’s guests can enhance the total contribution to the American Red Cross Mid-Missouri Chapter by giving additional monetary donations in canisters available at Culver’s of Columbia throughout the week.  Additionally, on March 5 guests can also donate blood at the Bloodmobile, which will be located at the Culver’s parking lot between 3-7 pm.

In honor of the “Day of Giving” on March 5, Culver’s “Flavor of the Day” will be Red Cross Raspberry. Culver’s mascot, Scoopie, along with the American Red Cross mascot, Buddy Blood Drop, will be available for pictures while visiting with guests for a portion of the day. Some of Columbia’s ‘local celebrities’ may also serve customers at various times throughout the day to show their support. Likewise, Culver’s guests at the restaurant on March 5 can enter to win a Red Cross t-shirt autographed by country superstar Sara Evans, who is from Mid-Missouri and who is also a Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet member.

Culver’s and the American Red Cross Mid-Missouri Chapter are holding the event during National Red Cross Month to celebrate and reflect upon the work of the Red Cross in communities across the nation. The Mid-Missouri Chapter serves seven counties in central Missouri, in addition to the Columbia area.

Red Cross Month is also a time when Mid-Missourians and all Americans are encouraged to take steps to prepare for emergencies, to take CPR and first aid training, to volunteer their time, to give blood and to financially support the programs and services of the American Red Cross.

“Culver’s of Columbia, and the Culver’s organization nationwide, have been wonderful supporters of Red Cross efforts,” said Mike Odneal, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Mid-Missouri Chapter. “These types of community-minded events and donations from Culver’s make a significant difference – helping our local Red Cross chapter prepare for and respond to emergencies in the Mid-Missouri area.”

Culvers of Columbia is located at 2520 Broadway Bluffs Drive in Columbia. Culver’s has more than 370 restaurants in 16 states throughout America. The Mid-Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross serves the residents of 7 Mid-Missouri counties: Boone, Carroll, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Randolph and Saline.

The American Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, almost a million volunteers and 35,000 employees helped victims of almost 75,000 disasters; taught lifesaving skills to millions; and helped U.S. service members separated from their families stay connected. Almost 4 million people gave blood through the Red Cross, the largest supplier of blood and blood products in the United States. The Red Cross is not a government agency; it relies on donations of time, money, and blood to do its work.
