sponsors multi-faceted
“Week of Giving” to benefit local American Red Cross

Culvers will also promote monetary donations by giving Red Cross 10% of
store proceeds on September 12
September 6, 2007 – In support of National Preparedness Month and in
commemoration of the 9/11 tragedy, the Culver’s Restaurant in Columbia
is doing its part next week to help increase donations of blood and
funds for the local American Red Cross organization.
According to local Culver’s franchise owner Shaun Morris, it is also a
way that he and his restaurant can say “thanks” to the Red Cross for
its help during times of disaster -- and to Red Cross blood donors and
charitable contributors.
“The Culver’s family of restaurants believes and supports the core
value of giving back to our community,” said Morris. “The Red Cross is
always there to help our community during times of need, so our
restaurant wanted to show our thanks and support to the Red Cross in
this way.”
Specifically, Culvers support of the Red Cross during the week of
September 10-14 includes three activities:
First, Culvers is sponsoring the entire week of blood donations at the
Red Cross Columbia Blood Center, located at 1511 S. Providence in
Columbia. People who give blood at that location between September 10
and 14 can get a coupon for a free pint of Culver’s ice cream as part
of Culver’s “Give a Pint, Get a Pint” promotion targeting blood donors.
In fact, these free ice cream coupons for blood donors will continue to
be available for Red Cross blood donors beyond September 10-14, while
supplies last.
Secondly, on September 11 between the hours of 3-7 pm, the Red Cross
Bloodmobile will be stationed in the parking lot of the local Culver’s
Restaurant – located at 2520 Broadway Bluffs Drive, just west of Hwy 63
off Broadway. Blood donors who give blood that day at the Culver’s
location will also be eligible for the “Give a Pint, Get a Pint” free
coupon.
And finally, on September 12, the local Culver’s will be donating 10%
of the entire day’s proceeds to the Mid-Missouri Chapter of the
American Red Cross, which is located in Columbia. Donation canisters
will also be located at the restaurant throughout the week, for patrons
who would like to make an extra contribution to the Red Cross when
visiting the local Culvers restaurant.
“Culver’s is being wonderfully supportive and generous toward the Red
Cross,” said Mike Odneal, executive director of the Mid-Missouri
Chapter. “We thank them for setting such a great example of leadership
and involvement among local restaurants and businesses.”

The Mid-Missouri Chapter of the
American Red Cross serves the residents of 7 mid-Missouri counties:
Boone, Carroll, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Randolph and Saline.
The American Red Cross helps
people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year,
almost a million volunteers and 35,000 employees helped victims of
almost 75,000 disasters; taught lifesaving skills to millions; and
helped U.S. service members separated from their families stay
connected. Almost 4 million people gave blood through the Red Cross,
the largest supplier of blood and blood products in the United States.
The American Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross and Red
Crescent Movement. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the Red Cross
spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs. The Red Cross
is not a government agency; it relies on donations of time, money, and
blood to do its work.
